Low Income Tax Clinic

Overview The Central Pennsylvania Federal Tax Clinic provides free legal services to low income individuals who need representation when faced with an IRS tax controversy. Primarily the clinic focuses on counseling clients involved in tax controversies with the IRS and provides education and outreach to taxpayers with limited English proficiency about their rights and responsibilities under federal tax law.

Doug Smith, who is the manager of the clinic, was one of two lawyers across the nation named to serve as a 2009-2011 Public Service Fellow by the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation. The Clinic is also the recipient of a matching grant from the federal Low-Income Taxpayer Clinic Program.
