Family Center

 

Overview

The Lancaster Family Center is a collaborative effort between the County of Lancaster and the Community Action Program of Lancaster County. The Family Center promotes positive child development through effective parenting, early intervention and outreach services. The program works to support and preserve the family unit as the foundation of success for children while assuring healthy development and access to health care services for children.

  • Parents As Teachers (PAT) - PAT is a parent education program designed to provide developmental information and support in the homes of parents with children from birth to 36 months of age. Services include individualized developmental assessments, parent-child interaction groups, parent workshops, and referrals to community resources.

  • Nutrition Education Program (NEP) - TRACKS is the statewide program that provides Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) to low-income individuals and families who are eligible to receive SNAP benefits.  The program aims to foster positive behavioral changes related to nutrition and physical activity. 

  • Promoting Responsible Fathers (PRF) - Provides custodial, non-custodial father and potential fathers with educational groups and case management services to increase their involvement with their children.

  • Super Padres' - This is the only Spanish language parenting class currently offered in Lancaster County. Classes are 8 weeks in length and offered throughout the year at the Lancaster Family Center office. Free child care is available for children under the age of 12 and referrals are accepted.

  • Family Reunification Partnership - This is a collaboration between the CAP Family Center and the Lancaster County Children and Youth Social Service Agency (CYA). The program offers intense casework service for parents involved in the child welfare system. CYA makes all referrals into the program.

Program Qualifications/Income Guidelines

Program participants must reside in Lancaster County to receive services without regard to income.

A: You can make a self-referral by calling the Family Center directly at the number below. Other social service agencies can also make referrals.
