Work Ready Program
Overview
The Community Action Program of Lancaster County operates the Work Ready Program with funding provided by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. The program is designed to move individuals from welfare (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families or TANF) to meaningful employment. Participants are referred by the County Assistance Office.
The Work Ready Program provides TANF recipients with education, skills training, work activities and job placement services designed to enable them to become self-sufficient.
Overall, program participants benefit from intense case management, resume development, interviewing, job application completion, and identification of job opportunities. The program also helps remove barriers to finding employment by assisting with child care, transportation issues and job readiness skills.
