Child Care Center

Overview

The CAP Child Care Center provides high quality care for children of all socioeconomic backgrounds. Research has shown that early childhood education conducted in a safe, nurturing environment for children 6 weeks to five years of age does influence positive outcomes both in school and in life. The center director, Allison Troutman, and her low turnover staff of 20 provide such an environment in the center Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. year round. Parents in the area have a real need for reliable, high quality affordable child care services so they can work or receive training/education to improve their lives.

The care and the educational experience provided by the CAP Child Care Center are of the highest quality in the area. The center is licensed by the PA Department of Public Welfare and has earned a Star 4 in the Keystone Stars rating system. This is the highest rating possible under the Keystone STARS standards, which emphasize staff qualifications and professional development, the early learning program, partnerships with family and community, and leadership and management.

To achieve the STAR 4 rating a center has to demonstrate: high level of staff development; two-thirds of staff completed or enrolled in credentials or degrees; activities designed to encourage communication both verbal and written; staff compensation practices maximized; and a review of the facility by a nationally recognized scale indicates a high quality score. To read more about the Keystone Stars program, see the website address at the bottom of this page.

The CAP Child Center works very closely with the Child Care Information Services (CCIS) program to assist families with day care costs. For information about eligibility for financial assistance with child care costs, you may consult their web page or call CCIS Information and Referral Service at 717.393.4004 or 1.800.937.4546. You may email to request more information, by sending your inquiry to lbrown@caplanc.org.

The United Way of Lancaster County partially supports the CAP Child Care Center.
