The Community Action Program employs over 300 people at locations throughout Lancaster City and County. CAP enjoys a diverse workforce and employs people in a variety of positions including for example school bus drivers, domestic violence counselors, pre-school teachers, nutritionists, family development specialists, employability counselors and home weatherization technicians.

Open Positions

Breast Feeding Peer Counselors (Full and Part-time)

                                                                                                                               

The Women, Infants and Children program seek qualified applicants for Breastfeeding Peer Counselor positions.  These positions are grant-funded from January 1, 2012 through September 30, 2012 with the possibility of continued funding.  There is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week and a part-time position at 18.75 hours per week (Monday through Friday) with some evening availability.  Both positions are non-exempt.  Benefits for the full-time position include health insurance, employer paid life insurance, paid time off, paid holidays and a 403(b) plan.

Qualifications:

  • Personal Experience with breastfeeding at least one baby
  • Ability to utilize counseling techniques and lead small groups
  • Strong reading and writing skills
  • Basic computer knowledge  
  • Ability to relate to various social, ethnic and socio- economic backgrounds
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for breastfeeding and helping mothers
  • Must maintain excellent attendance to meet appointment obligations
  • Must provide a valid PA Driver’s License with full-time use of a motor vehicle
