Energy Conservation Center

The Energy Conservation Center was established in 1976 by CAP to assist low income people to lower the cost of heating their homes.  Using the latest techniques, the Center analyzes your home energy usage and figures out how to tighten up your home's windows, doors, ceilings and walls so that you will use less energy.

Utility Sponsored Weatherization Services

Local utility companies contract with the CAP Energy Conservation Program to provide weatherization services to their low income customers.  PP&L customers should call 1.800.DIAL.PPL for more information.  UGI customers may contact us directly at 717.492.0102.

Community Development Block Grant

The Lancaster County Redevelopment Authority also provides loans and grants for low and moderate income home owners needing weatherization services. The weatherization services can incorporated into the Authority's Home Rehabilitations program as sell. Contact us directly for more information at 492-0102

Other Energy Conservation Links

Energy Information for Kids provides great information for children about saving energy.

The Alliance to Save Energy works with utility companies and corporations to promote energy conservation. The founder and first Director of the CAP Energy Center, Mark Hopkins, serves as Executive Vice President of the Alliance.

The Pennsylvania Low Income Usage Reduction (LIURP) is a statewide, utility-sponsored, residential usage reduction program, mandated by Pennsylvania Public Utility regulations. The primary goal of LIURP is to assist low-income residential customers to conserve energy and reduce their bills.  CAP's ECC also operates the the home weatherization program for both PPL and UGI. CAP's outreach program operates the On-Track Customer Assistance Program for PPL and the customer assistance program for UGI.
