Our confidential and secure shelter provides a temporary safe place for victims of domestic violence (and their children) who are forced to flee their home for safety reasons. Advocates are on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support, education and counseling, as well as information and referral to community resources. Services provided during the stay help to stabilize the victim’s immediate crisis as well as support long term goal planning.
Call the 24-hour Hotline at 717.299.1249 for immediate help with an emergency or for more information about shelter services.
Help is just a phone call away! This lifeline for victims in danger provides immediate peer support, information, safety planning and coordination of resources.
Individual and Group Counseling
Domestic violence counseling works with victims to explore relationship alternatives, establish short and long term goals, develop self-esteem and promote personal growth. Support groups provide participants with an outlet to share their experiences and growth process with other victims. Counseling services are available to both shelter residents and non-residents.
Contact us at 717.299.9677 for more information about support group locations.
DVS is committed to meeting the emotional needs of children who are victims of and/or witness to domestic violence. A special space inside the shelter is designed for children’s therapeutic, educational and recreational activities. Children’s services are also available to non-shelter residents whose parents are participating in counseling.
DVS provides free, confidential services and is committed to serving all victims of domestic violence and their dependent children. Facilities are handicapped-accessible.
