Family Development Specialist – Part-time
Family Development Specialist needed for the Community Action Program of Lancaster County's Family Center. The Family Reunification Partnership provides intensive case management, child development and parenting education, referrals to counseling and other human services, and transportation assistance to parents with children birth to twelve years of age who are in temporary foster care. The Initiative's goal is to provide intensive in-home support and monitoring by Family Reunification Partnership staff to parents who will reunite with their child, if they successfully complete all elements of a court mandated service plan. The Parent Mentor plays an integral part in the reunification of individuals with parenting challenges and their children.
Work with parents and provide intensive parenting education services, including writing individualized curricula, service plan development, and monitoring of services. Conduct home visits as needed by family (daily, weekly). Facilitate visitation between birth parents and children in Children and Youth custody. Assist families in accessing community resources. Advocate for families and work cooperatively with representatives of other agencies to ensure effective service delivery. Maintain accurate records and submit written reports as required. Establish clear, measurable outcome goals with each client. attend staff meetings and participate in training as directed by Program Manager.
Requirements: AA. or BS. degree in Social Work, human services, early childhood, or related field, OR a high school diploma or GED and two years combined work experience related to families in social/human services or related field. Must provide satisfactory PA Act 33 and Act 34 clearances. Must provide a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License, proof of current auto insurance and have full time use of a vehicle. Must be able to lift 40 pounds. This is a 19 hour per week job and some flexibility of working hours will be needed to order to make appointments with families during the day and evening hours.
