CAP Child Care is seeking a full-time, Assistant Teacher who will work directly with Preschoolers. This opportunity is housed at our Star 4 Child Care Center, located in the heart of Lancaster City.  

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Associate (CDA) credential /Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential or
  • High School Diploma or GED with 2 years of experience working with preschool children and will receive CDA Credential within 2 years of initial employment
  • 2 years of preschool experience / 1 year of working with families from diverse backgrounds
  • PA Act 33 and 34 clearances; FBI clearances
  • Current driver’s license and vehicle available to travel to Head Start sites, home visits and professional development
  • Ability to work flexible hours and attend evening and out-of-town trainings
  • Ability to lift 25lbs and move 50lbs with the assistance of a wheeled cart

Skills and Experience

  • Assists with implementing Creative Curriculum, Lancaster County Head Start’s Daily Structures, and instructional strategies in accordance with program guidelines to fidelity
  • Implements Head Start initiatives including; nutrition and healthy choices, school readiness, Pyramid model/program wide positive behavior supports, dual language learners, etc

  • Assists in observation (data collection) and documents children’s development in the classroom to be used for assessment in the program database (GOLD)
  • Assists to screen all children for developmental delays following the screening and referral system
  • Implements individualized instruction for children with suspected or identified developmental delays
  • Plans and implements preventive mental health practices (Universal Practices) and teaches social emotional skills
  • Implements interventions, such as, Teacher Support Plans and Safety Plans with support from intra/inter agency teams (Program Coordinators, Early Childhood Behavior Specialists (ECBS) or Mental Health Consultants)
  • Assists the teacher in supporting the families with the child’s academic goals
  • Follows all Community Action Partnership (CAP) and Head Start policies, procedures and systems
